Peninver Village
The perfect hub for exploring East Kintyre or simply relaxing and enjoying a day at the seaside, picturesque Peninver is a small village just over four miles north of Campbeltown.
A tranquil retreat on Ardnacross Bay, it boasts magnificent views out towards the Isle of Arran and the unmistakable rocky outpost that is Ailsa Craig.
Its long, white sandy beach is not only popular with locals and visitors but also the resident seals – on a clear day, it’s possible to spot dolphins and porpoises too. It is very safe for swimming, paddle boarding and canoeing.
This is also one of the few places in Scotland where you can still spot creelers launch their fishing boats from a beach.
When the wind is in the west, swimmers can enjoy a refreshing dip in the clean, clear waters.
Local facilities include ample car parking space and a popular caravan park.
For the more energetic, there are also hiking trails through the surrounding countryside and opportunities to take part in horse riding and watersports.
Our village hall facilities include badminton, table tennis, and a group of games for younger children.
